Each agency needed a business intelligence and reporting solution to better understand their ridership, maintenance costs, revenue, and key KPIs such as on-time performance, revenue miles, and customer service metrics.
The 511 SF Bay system, operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), is one of the largest and most sophisticated advanced traveler information systems (ATIS) in the nation. The system encompasses mainly the nine Bay Area counties covering approximately 21,000 miles of local streets and highway. The 511 SF Bay system is one of the most heavily used ATIS systems in the nation. During an average month, the system handles more than 675,000 phone calls and more than two million web-user sessions.
The HOLO Card is the account-based fare payment program launched in April 2020 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The system is provided by INIT and uses NFC smart cards to allow contactless tap-on on over 500 buses. The new metro rail system is set to open in early 2021 and will include TVMs and fare gates as the only form of fare payment.
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has multiple, disparate transit data systems such as a train control system, scheduling system, asset management system, and others, all of which contain a wealth of data. Internal teams were manually gathering data from multiple systems, to prepare operational and performance dashboards, and share data with riders. The goal of this project was to centralize data, automate the dashboard for public use, and publish data and APIs for data developers to leverage for 3rd party projects and applications.
WETA operates the San Francisco Bay Ferry. The primary goals of the WETA reporting system are to review the accuracy of data entry by Blue & Gold, to improve the ease and accuracy of report creation by Authority staff, and to facilitate public access to ferry ridership and operations data.
